Program 5

Integration, implementation, and procurement strategies

Leaders:
Prof. Srinath Perera
A/Prof Vidyasagar Manohar Potdar

OBJECTIVES

  • Program 5 will provide knowledge and skills required for integration of technologies and the knowledge developed, for clear sustainability outcomes, aiming for net-zero carbon and environmental preservation.

  • Program 5 will increase value, reduce waste, and maximise efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction.

DESCRIPTION

  • Program 5 includes collaborative alliance of people, systems, business structures, and practices into a process that harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimise project results.

  • Platform-based building construction ecosystems are associated with a lengthy value and supply chain involving a complex network of stakeholders and processes.

  • The supply chain includes planning, product design, statutory approval, site preparation, development, manufacturing, transportation, storage, buffering, on-site assembly, and installation.

  • Successful implementation requires system integrators such as architects, designers, engineers, material suppliers, modular fabricators, developers, and contractors to be actively involved from the initiation of the project through to the implementation of workflows in the design, construction, operations, and maintenance stages.

  • In response to an increasingly demanding marketplace, project delivery methods have evolved from the more traditional methods of design-bid-build, design-build, and construction-manager-at-risk into what is known as integrated project delivery.

ADVANTAGE

  • The successful execution of the training program will integrate net-zero project delivery models into the design platform-based as a standard practice in building construction.

3 Research Streams

Program 5 is structured into three streams, addressing the development of skills and strategies for integration, implementation, and procurement, ensuring smooth coordination across the value chain

Implementation of net-zero KPIs into the platforms & offset strategies

The aim is to implement net-zero key performance indicator (KPIs) into product development platforms as a major decision-making pillar.

Outcome: Decision-making methods and tools to assess the outcomes of other streams against net-zero KPIs.
